Box Frame at SE1

Example of box frames at SE1 Picture Frames showing the use of a fillet to separate the glass from artwork

Box frames create a space between the artwork and the glazing with the use of a ‘spacer’ or ‘fillet’. These are acid free, paper wrapped strips of wood that are  attached to the inside of the rebate holding the glass away from the artwork.

Box frames allow air to circulate around the artwork and this essential for conservation and museum framing. This method can be used for both flat media and very deep objects. Our box frames have a clean and contemporary look and are generally square with a flat face.

Box frames can be used for both 2 dimentional and 3 dimentional work. We generally use wooden box frame mouldings that can be hand finished to your specifications although we also stock some aluminium box frame mouldings. All Box frames are custom made to fit the art work.
